Brazilian filmmaker, producer and researcher.
Maíra is a Brazilian filmmaker and researcher working primarily on documentary with gender and social issues. PHD candidate at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (ECO) researching topics that intersect gender issues, Brazilian and Latin American cinema and decolonial theory. She is a master in Cinema and Television (New University of Lisbon) and bachelor in Social Sciences (Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo) and Social Communication (Vila Velha University). She earned a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) grant to develop a film project at Berlin University of Arts.
She directed the short film, Transviar (2021), Unpleasure Territory (2017), the series Ser Mulher (2021, 2017), the documentary Comrade 306 (2018), among others. Her audiovisual and artistic works aims to approach social and feminist relations in different contexts and experiences. Currently, she is developing the project Song of Sands, in which she honored the grant from Cultural Department of Espírito Santo.

Doutoranda em Comunicação e Cultura (UFRJ), mestra em Cinema e Televisão (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), bacharel em Ciências Sociais (UFES) e Comunicação Social (UVV). Foi Guest-student na Berlin University of Arts (UDK), financiada pelo DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), onde desenvolveu o projeto audiovisual Transviar, em 16mm. Em sua pesquisa acadêmica, Maíra investiga questões de gênero, cinema brasileiro e latino-americano e decolonialidade.
É proprietária da produtora Chaleira Filmes, dirigiu curtas-metragens e séries com exibições internacionais. Suas obras audiovisuais e artísticas visam abordar temáticas feministas e sociais em diferentes contextos e experiências. Atualmente, faz doutorado e esta finalizando o curta-metragem "Canto das Areais" sobre a antiga vila soterrada de Itaúnas, ES.
